SPAG

SPAG is the current project name of Mischa Reining, a Dutch bass-music producer based in Barcelona, Spain. His music spans dubstep, riddim, drumstep and broader bass music, with a sound built around hard-hitting, melodic writing and brostep energy. He has said his recent work aims to preserve the core of his earlier style while presenting it in a more modern form.

Reining has said he started playing drums as a child, came to electronic music in his teens, and began making hip-hop beats in FL Studio before dubstep pulled him into full-time production. He has also said Dutch hip-hop such as Opgezwolle and Kubus shaped his early workflow, and that dubstep arrived while he was living in Utrecht. Punk rock and skate culture also influenced his songwriting approach, pushing him toward melodic themes, simple progressions and heavy drops.

Under the Spag Heddy name, he released the OG Meatball EP on Buygore Records, the Armageddy EP on Never Say Die Records, and the Prego single on Never Say Die Records in 2021. His discography also includes releases on Monstercat, Disciple, Play Me, Firepower, Bassrush, Circus, Dim Mak, Gud Vibrations, Kannibalen, Excision Music and other labels. In 2026 he reintroduced himself as SPAG and released the four-track THIS IS: SPAG EP on Kannibalen Records.

Reining has toured internationally and played Lost Lands in 2017, 2019 and 2021, including a b2b with SLANDER at the festival’s Prehistoric Paradox stage. He also toured the US with Zomboy and Flux Pavilion. In 2026, UKF and The Daily Frequency covered his name change and the new EP. He has collaborated with Tisoki, Dubloadz and Krimer, and remixed tracks by The Chainsmokers, Topic, Krewella and Excision.
