Samplifire is the dubstep and riddim project of Samy Beyou, a producer from Brest, France, now based in Los Angeles. His sound centers on modern dubstep, with innovative sound design, heavy basslines and grooves, and he also records under the name GOOT. He has built a following across bass-music scenes in Europe and North America.
In a 2018 FUXWITHIT interview, Beyou said he discovered FL Studio about seven years earlier and traced his earliest musical pull to his father playing techno and modern electronic music at home. He pointed to French techno figures such as Laurent Garnier and later artists including Justice and Noisia as part of the path that led him toward bass music. He has also said he started making bass music in high school, with inspiration from Noisia, Rusko and Skrillex.
Samplifire’s release history includes the Mancubus EP on Never Say Die: Black Label in 2018, the Infection EP on Disciple Round Table in 2019, and the Loki EP on Disciple Round Table in 2021, which he described as a new “viking” direction. In a Dubstep FBI interview, he placed the Viking-riddim idea around a last-minute track for Alliance Vol. 5. His later releases include ECHO with INFEKT and True Trench Times with INFEKT, along with remixes and collaborations with SVDDEN DEATH, Barely Alive, Wooli and Dirtyphonics.
His live schedule has included headline tours in North America, Australia and Europe, as well as support slots for Zomboy, Kayzo and Crankdat. He has also performed at EDC Las Vegas, Rampage and Summoning Fest at the Caverns. In a 2021 Dubstep FBI interview, Beyou described an unplanned EDC Las Vegas BassPOD appearance with MVRDA and Infekt and said he was working on a more cinematic, multi-genre direction alongside the trench and riddim material that defined his recent output.
